Sustainable Living

Here's my projects done throughout this module

Project 1

Project 1 aims to understand the definition of a "Sustainable City". We conducted a few surveys and research from the resources from different parties on Internet to compare two different cities in different typologies which defines the sustainability of a city, this leads to the need to answer two principal questions with regards to the niche of sustainable cities in a local/international context. An evaluation on sustainable development (social, economic and environmental) to give an alternative solution reflecting the issues discussed during the research background phases.

Two principal questions to answer:

  1. What is a sustainable city?

  2. Why is it important that cities become sustainable? How can cities be resilient especially to natural disaster

Phase One: Choose a precedent study and describe your chosen city in terms of the scale, population, urban design pattern. urban density while research about strategy of the city to achieve sustainable development?

Phase Two: Then select a precedent study of a sustainable city (refer to e.g. sustainable ranking) based on the characteristic of the theoretical and historical model extracted from the module and conduct a comparison between them. (Some inspirational question: Why are these cities relevant to your Phase One city? How can the example of the city from the module offer ideas for making your Phase One city more sustainable?)

Phase Three: Discuss/compare/appraise the existing structural system of biodiversity awareness and community engagement (tangible and intangible) (if any) in terms of:

a. renewable energy sources,

b. efficiency in the use of water and electricity,

c. existing green areas and increase of green areas,

d. existing and improved waste and recycling systems

e. Economic Sustainability : Growth Development Productivity

f. Social Sustainability : Equity Empowerment Accessibility Participation Sharing Cultural Identity Institutional Stability

g. Environmental Sustainability : Eco-System Integrity Carrying Capacity Biodiversity

• This module will aim at providing solutions through engaging with the communities for Urban Resilience. For August 2024, delivered by 1 Module (50 students) to develop the mindset of the students to be aware and responsive towards climate change and environmentally sustainability. Sustainable Living (Yr 2 or 3 BAT Extension/SABD) – 50 students Beneficiaries: Urban community of Tasik Cyberjaya

Outputs: 1. 2. 3.

Walkthrough Wayfinding Map of Tasik Cyberjaya (Analysis)

Structural Innovation (focusing on INTERACTIVE inspo and experience through integrated/walking nature information for multi-generational activities (Analysis)

Increased knowledge on Biodiversity awareness within the community through engagement activities (Analysis)

Outcomes: Adoption of the outputs of students by GEC to develop Digital Information with Biodiversity Awareness
